Season Outlook

Kelvin Sampson has done a really good job in filling the voids that were left by Armani Brooks and Corey Davis Jr. His ability to develop young talent will play a big role in the success that this Houston team has. Young guys like Nate Hinton, Caleb Mills, and Cedrick Alley Jr are going to have to step up and be bigger contributors for Houston.

Houston is certainly a talented enough team to go earn an at large bid but I wouldn’t rule them out by any means to win the conference tournament themselves. There’s a lot of breakout potential on this roster and one that will get even better next season when Kansas transfer Quentin Grimes is eligible. Houston only has one senior on the current roster, this team is young, but they’re going to be ready.

The future is really bright, many may be thinking Houston is in a rebuilding year but they’ll quickly prove they’re not. With Quentin Grimes coming to play next year and only one senior on this year’s roster, Houston will be one of the most exciting teams in the country in 2020. As for this season, Houston should challenge for the automatic bid in the AAC.

If they fail to win the conference championship Houston should still find themselves in a position for an at large bid. Kelvin Sampson will have his guys ready for the challenges and should be a tournament team for the third consecutive season.
