Georgia Basketball: Bulldogs can steal an NCAA Tournament bid in 2020
Tom Crean and the Season Outlook
Granted it was his first year in charge but that first season for Tom Crean was dismal. However he still somehow managed to pull a top ten recruiting class out of nowhere which I think speaks volumes. Crean needs Anthony Edwards to play well and end up as a high lottery pick to help put Georgia on the map.
When kids are picking schools they’re looking for coaches who are going to help get them to the next level. This is Tom Crean’s shot. He can set the tone for Georgia basketballs future this season. Crean had a number of guys reach the NBA while he was at Indiana and he’ll need to replicate that success to make Georgia competitive in the SEC.
Georgia isn’t on a lot of people’s radars to make the tournament this season or be a player in the SEC but there’s a lot to be excited about. Tom Crean has the opportunity to get Georgia to an NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015. Georgia has got to be better defensively than they were last year.
Edwards should help them put more points up on the board but he won’t be able to do it alone, teams are likely to key on him making it important for guys like Hammonds, Gresham, and Crump to play their part. It will take a total team effort for Georgia to steal a bid this year but regardless, Georgia is going to be a fun team to watch, especially in SEC play.
