Emmett Naar (St. Mary’s 15-18)

  • Best College Season: 14 PPG, 6.3 APG, 3.7 RPG, 1.3 SPG

Like Brooks and Boone, Emmett Naar played starter minutes from the jump for the Gaels. He was a true point guard, leading the team in assists in all four years. This included a year in which he led the whole NCAA in total assists with 284, beating out NBA rising star, Trae Young. His first two seasons at Saint Mary’s were plagued with NIT births and finishing behind Gonzaga in the WCC, but finally broke through his Junior season. This included a trip to the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament before falling to a stacked Arizona Wildcats team that featured 5 future NBA players.

His Senior season he led his team to a 30-6 record with a win over 13th ranked Gonzaga, but the selection committee didn’t think it was enough for the Gaels to go dancing. He would end his impressive college career with a Quarterfinal overtime loss to the Utes of Utah in the NIT.

The floor general is now throwing dimes to LaMelo Ball in Australia.

AJ Ogilvy (Vanderbilt 08-10)

  • Best College Season: 17.0 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.4 BPG

With the first three players, we have had a trend of stellar numbers since their freshman year, it’s no different with A.J Ogilvy. In fact, Ogilvy had his best statistical season his first year with the Commodores. These impressive statistics led him to the SEC All-Freshman team as well as Second Team All-SEC honor. His impressive year finished with being upset by 13 seeded Siena in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Over his next two seasons, his numbers gradually decreased across the board making him decide that this was the best time to take his chances and enter the NBA draft. Forgoing his senior season in Nashville. His Sophomore season ended with a mediocre record that left the Commodores without a postseason. His final year ended in disappointment again as Vanderbilt was upset by yet another 13 seed, the Murray State Racers. A buzzer-beater. Ogilvy ended his college career on the wrong side of one of those “March Miracles”.

Ogilvy is now trying to help LaMelo Ball and the Illawara Hawks to a NBL Championship

LaMelo Ball may be the headliner for the Illawara Hawks, but they have some other former college studs that can ball too.
