What could the Dukes’ rotation look like?

Last season Duquesne more often than not deployed a line up that had three guards and two frontcourt players. If they go that route in 2019-20, it looks like there are up to two spots up for grabs. Carry, Weathers and Frankie Hughes should slide back into the starting roles they occupied last season, leaving one backcourt and one frontcourt position available.

Lamar Norman, Jr. is the incumbent likely to get the first shot as the third guard, the junior made three starts last season, including the team’s season-ending loss. But Maceo Austin continues to impress after his starts in the Bahamas, if Dambrot feels the freshman is ready, he could start.

The frontcourt is where things will be interesting, Dambrot could change things up and start both Steele and Michael Hughes for a bigger frontcourt or if he wants a stronger bench, he could choose to have one of the big men anchor his second unit. Junior Tavian Dunn-Martin also figures to play key guard minutes after averaging 21 minutes per game last season with 7.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists averages as a sophomore and with a year under his belt, Ellis could find himself a part of the Dukes’ big man rotation.
