Northwestern – AJ Turner

Chances of winning POY – 0.1%

Let’s be honest, the Wildcats are not good. If they can stay out of the cellar of the Big Ten that would probably be considered a win. With that, they pretty much have no shot at having any player get mentioned in any postseason discussion for awards.

Since we are talking about each team, though, Turner would be the best chance the WIldcats would have. He did score in double digits in the last four games last year, including a 20 point effort against Illinois in the Big Ten tournament.

He has the ability to make shots from the outside and looked the best in a game against DePaul where he scored 24 points and shot 6-10 for behind the arc. He will need to step up into the top role for Northwestern to be competitive this year.

The Wildcats lost their top three scorers and Turner is the logical choice to be the top scorer this year. He just doesn’t have much around him to help out. If he can continue to grow and become an even better shooter he could be the guy that could go off in a game and possibly lead the Wildcats to an upset.

The Wildcats are not going to be very good this year and everyone knows it, but at least Turner could give them something to look forward to each game.
