Ohio State – Kaleb Wesson

Chances of winning POY – Better than average

Ohio State had a late slide last year, but over the last two years, they have been the surprise of the Big Ten. Chris Holtman has done a great job with the Buckeyes but the driving force behind the resurgence has been the play of the Wesson brothers.

Andre has been a very good player for the Buckeyes but Kaleb has definitely been the star. He averaged 14.6 points per game and even shot just under 35% from behind the arc. He is a difficult matchup for opposing teams, just like Jalen Smith at Maryland.

What really gives Wesson a great chance at winning POY is that the Buckeyes are a team that is expected to give Michigan State a run in the Big Ten. Obviously, the Spartans are the clear favorite but the only teams that seem to have a shot to dethrone them are Maryland and Ohio State.

If Wesson can help lead the Buckeyes to a title or have a great year and Ohio State comes in second then he has a really good chance to come home with the top honor.

The key for Wesson is to limit his turnovers this year. He turned it over almost two and half times a game. If he can protect the ball better, that will not only make him better but also the rest of the team.

Wesson has one of the best chances of winning this award for a player outside of East Lansing. But can they avoid the slide they had last year and live up to expectations. If they do, don’t be surprised if Wesson is the POY.
