Wisconsin – D’Mitrik Trice

Chances of winning POY – Slim

Life without Ethan Happ is here for the Wisconsin Badgers and they will need someone to step up. We know Brad Davison is going to be the guy that everyone loves to hate. Davison has the ability to score, but he isn’t the one that can take over a game.

D’Mitrik Trice is the guy the Badgers will need to step up and try and take some of the responsibility with Happ being gone.

He showed flashes of being to do that last year as he started the season with double-digit scoring games in 12 of the Badger’s first 13 games. That included four games over 20. The problem is he started to slide late in the year as he failed to reach 10 points in 12 of their last 14 games.

The Badgers will need more consistency from Trice this year and he will need to improve his outside shooting. He did shoot 39% from behind the arc, but I think many teams would agree that they didn’t feel threatened by the Badgers outside shooting.

If he can improve on that and become more consistent he could become a very good player in the Big Ten. The problem is the Badgers are probably just going to be a middle of the road team this year and Trice doesn’t quite look like he is ready to make the jump to an elite player. But if the Badgers surprise this year it will be because of Trice and then maybe they will start talking about him.
