Creighton Basketball: 2019-20 season preview for Bluejays
Creighton will face some challenging games early on
The Creighton schedule has its challenges, they travel to Michigan to face the Wolverines in their second game of the season on Nov. 12, and then to finish the month of November by taking part in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. They begin the event by hosting Cal Poly and North Florida before playing San Diego State and either Iowa or national runner-up Texas Tech in Las Vegas. In December the Bluejays have four home games, including welcoming Oklahoma and in-state rival Nebraska to town, before finishing non-conference play at Arizona State.
Once league play starts, that will be the real test for Creighton as once again the league should be tightly contested with again with Villanova, Marquette at the top, Creighton, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Xavier and Butler all likely to be improved and Providence is always a tough out. Creighton should make it back to the NCAA Tournament, but any injury to a thin frontcourt could pose major problems again for Creighton.
One final thing that will improve the Bluejays chances in both the Big East and in postseason play would be some improvement on the defensive end, and if the trip to Australia is any indication, they should be more active on that end.
