No. 1 – Washington

As much as it pains me to do this, I can’t argue with the stats. Despite ranking near the bottom in every offensive watchability stat last season, Mike Hopkins‘ Huskies had one heck of a defense. Ranking inside the top 5 in all three defensive Watchability stats–including second in block percentage–Hopkins 2-3 zone rivaled the best of his mentor Jim Boeheim’s defenses.

And they’re gonna be even better this year. Hopkins snatched one of the best big-man recruits in the country, Isaiah Stewart, right out from under the nose of his alma mater Syracuse; he also landed hometown superstar Jaden McDaniels. With these two moves, Hopkins has arguably one of the best frontcourts in college basketball history, making the backline of that zone as terrifying as a Stephen King book.

Look for the Huskies to easily surpass the already insane defensive numbers they put up last season and once again be the most watchable defense in the country.
