David’s overall season outlook

Confidence will be the biggest key for Christian David this season. He has seemingly been lacking in this facet of the game over the past two campaigns but has all the tools to be a solid rotation player for the Dawgs if he puts it all together. Although David will not be a featured scorer for the team, he could take significant strides simply by making the right reads with regards to passing and shooting/attacking.

David will quickly emerge as a legitimately reliable option for head coach LaVall Jordan if he takes those steps on the offensive end of the floor. He is already a strong defender with the ability to lock up a variety of different opponents. His multi-positionality could make him a viable rotation player because he can be a reserve at four different spots in the lineup.

On the whole, David’s outlook ranges from falling out of the rotation completely to emerging as Butler’s sixth man this season. This all depends on his ability to be a positive offensive player while making a consistent defensive impact at multiple positions. If he is unable to find his offensive confidence, then it will be hard for him to see a larger role compared to this past season.

There is more competition for frontcourt minutes this season with Bryce Nze, John-Michael Mulloy, and Derrik Smits joining a fray that already includes Bryce Golden, McDermott, and Tucker. As a result, David will need to improve in order to find consistent playing time. The potential is there – now is the time for him to realize it.
