What’s next for the other contenders?

UConn Huskies: UConn is looking to usher in a new era with this 2020 recruiting class as it will be the next group to play their entire career back in the Big East. Lane would have been a great addition to their future backcourt but alas, that did not come to fruition. The Huskies could still be on the verge of a solid class if they are able to finish strong. Andre Jackson (No. 70) is a superb opening commit but the program is also targeting a few others. Their top priorities at this moment might be Cameron Thomas (No. 24), Kadary Richmond (No. 100) and a plethora of big men.

Miami Hurricanes: Miami is in line for a potentially strong recruiting class even without this commitment. The Hurricanes already have a strong commitment in the form of power forward Matt Cross (No. 81) and they have made strong inroads with backcourt prospects as well. Most notably, head coach Jim Larranaga is heavily targeting the likes of Deivon Smith (No. 52) and Andre Curbelo (No. 55) to lead the offense into the future. It might also be important to mention that the Hurricanes are also eager to land another frontcourt commit. Scottie Barnes (No. 9) is likely at the top of their list but also take note of their efforts with Earl Timberlake (No. 28).

Texas Longhorns: Texas has not been the most successful program on the court under head coach Shaka Smart but their recruiting wins have been plentiful. Even though the Longhorns were unable to land this particular commitment, it is still reasonable to assume that they will land a highly-rated 2020 recruiting class. Coach Smart’s attention will now turn to the likes of Matthew Murrell (No. 45), Rondel Walker (No. 90), Josh Hall (No. 41), Micah Peavy (No. 43), Greg Brown (No. 8), and Bryce Thompson (No. 19). Texas is in a relatively good position with each of these.

Providence Friars: Providence has quietly been one of the better recruiting programs in the nation over the past few seasons. Head coach Ed Cooley has a fair amount of momentum on the trail and the fanbase should not be worried about this miss. The Friars were never considered to be one of the favorites in this recruiting battle and they have other targets to turn their attention to. Providence already has a shooting guard commit in tow with Alyn Breed (No. 214) and their top priorities moving forward will likely be Shakeel Moore (No. 195), DJ Gordon (No. 135), Earl Timberlake (No. 28), and Xavier Foster (No. 59).
