Key Reserves

Even Boudreaux

Boudreaux could be a starter as he got the nod four times last year. But he seemed to be a better fit to be a guy off the bench. He missed 11 games last year with an injury. He averaged just 5.2 points per game and three rebounds. The Boilermakers need him to be a solid backup this year and he should be able to provide him with just that. While not a star he has the ability to have some high scoring games, but he just hasn’t been able to be that consistent at Purdue yet.

Trevion Williams

Williams is huge and could play himself into the starting lineup this year. He is 6’9″ 280 and a force down low. Painter has been reluctant to play two big men at the same time in past years, so Williams will probably be a back up for Haarms. But Painter decides to go big they could be a force down low. Williams isn’t much a threat outside but he can clog up the inside and disrupt the other team’s offense. Williams could get some big minutes this year.

Eric Hunter Jr

Hunter’s minutes will depend on how well he shoots this year. He has the ability to fill up the score sheet, but he needs to do that to get playing time. He is not the biggest guy at 6’3″ 170 but he is quick and can cause some problems on the defensive end also.

Brandon Newman

Newman is Purdue’s top recruit for this year and it is possible he is good enough to crack the starting five. Painter more than likely will ease him in and bring him off the bench though. He is a big-time shooter and was considered one of the best catch and shoot prospects in the country. He is not great off the dribble, but if he can be that shooter he was in high school, he could take the role that Carsen Edwards filled so well. Expectations are high for Newman.

Emmanuel Dowuona

Dowuona missed last year with a foot injury and took a redshirt. He is big at 6’10” and looks to be the backup for Haarms this year. He spent some time in Ukraine playing with a team called Sports Reach hoping to get some experience and work on his game. The Boilermakers are hopeful the big man can stay healthy this year and provide some size off the bench.
