Season Overview

Kansas comes in looking strong in the 2019-20 season. heir non-conference schedule looks very promising and have some good warmup matches to get them ready for conference play. Don’t get me wrong though, they have some really huge matchups in Duke, Colorado, Villanova, and Stanford. With Nova and Stanford being on the road, the chances of them pulling two W’s are going to be a tough challenge. Nova is trying to bounce back after a tough season after winning the 2018 NCAA Championship.

Azubuike has a legit shot at winning Player of the Year this season. The way he can get around the rim is just remarkable and his ability to shoot the ball is tremendous. He has the ability to take over games for the Jayhawks and cause trouble for the opponents trying to stop him from scoring. FI think free throws will still cause him trouble, but other than that, expect big numbers from Azubuike.

SIlvio De Sousa and Devon Dotson will also be huge throughout the year. I see De Sousa and Dotson winning All-Big 12 First Team honors at the end of the regular season. These two and Azubuike can be a deadly trio for opponents and can make up 40-50% of Kansas scoring this season.

Road games in the Big 12 will be tough for the Jayhawks. After losing last year to Iowa State, WVU, Texas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma all on the road, Kansas will be coming for revenge this year. The toughest to get revenge on will be WVU and Texas Tech in my opinion. They also lost to Arizona State and Kentucky last year on the road too.

Lots of good things to come for the Jayhawks this season. It looks like another NCAA Tournament bound season for them, including potentially another Final Four run. Self is a great coach with amazing talent and has the best homecourt advantage in the country. It could very well propel them to the promise land this season.
