Strong Mid-Majors vs. Solid High-Majors

These are the sort games that resemble 12-5 and 13-4 NCAA Tournament matchups. We all know how hard some of those games can be to pick, so there’s a great chance most of these games end up being really close. In a few of these matchups, the team being called “mid-major” is actually the better team but will be given a test by their opponent from a major conference.

15. Alabama vs. Furman (Nov. 19)

Furman’s experience will pose problems for this Alabama team that has a lot to figure out. These Furman guys knocked off Villanova on the road last year. It will be close, but Alabama will survive.

Winner: Alabama

14. Alabama vs. Pennsylvania (Nov. 5)

This year’s Penn squad is full of seniors that are ready to get back to the NCAA Tournament. They will head to Tuscaloosa to make a statement, and they will do just that.

Winner: Pennsylvania

13. Syracuse vs. Colgate (Nov. 13)

Colgate is an hour down the road from Syracuse. They won’t have to drive very far for Jordan Burns and Rapolas Ivanauskas to pull off this upset.

Winner: Colgate

12. Grand Canyon vs. Illinois (Nov. 8)

Grand Canyon has a great team filled with plenty of transfers from big schools. Illinois will get back on track this year, but not before taking a loss to the Antelopes

Winner: Grand Canyon

11. LSU vs. East Tennessee State (Dec. 18)

LSU gets a test from the team many are saying is the best in the SoCon this season, but they will be okay in the end.

Winner: LSU
