10. G Jaime Echenique (Wichita State)

Echenique is the lone senior for Wichita State this season and will be looking to build on his success from last season. Echenique averaged nine points and six rebounds last season for the Shockers who made it to the semi-finals of the NIT.

The skillful big man started in 34 games last year for the Shockers and will be an integral part of Greg Marshall’s team this season. Echenique is a great shot blocker but found himself in foul trouble in several key games. There were times where Echenique seemed to disappear from games and wouldn’t get a lot of minutes. Echenique only played over 20 minutes in 13 of the 37 games he played in.

Echenique, unfortunately, will miss a minimum of a month after fracturing his hand, head coach Greg Marshall announced. This is a huge blow to Wichita State. Hopefully, Echenique will be ready to go for conference play.

9. G Nate Hinton (Houston)

Hinton found himself off the bench last season but was stuck behind Armoni Brooks and Corey Davis. Hinton was still a big contributor averaging seven points, four rebounds, and an assist in 19 minutes per game last season. Hinton traveled to Italy with Houston over the summer but did not participate in any of the summer tour games.

Hinton should take on a bigger role for Sampson this season and should be a candidate for one of the most improved players. Hinton has a very high ceiling entering his sophomore season. He’s a major breakout candidate in the AAC.
