Markus Howard

Last season Markus Howard was a one-man wrecking crew and one of the most exciting players in college basketball. Since then he and Marquette lost contact with two of their better offensive pieces in Sam Hauser and Joey Hauser.

In doing so they lose a combined total of 18.1 shots per game and 24.6 points per game. Considering Howard’s unbelievable 37.4 usage percentage, you can imagine where a solid amount of that absent-production might divvy out to (hint: Howard).

It’s safe to project Howard taking upwards of 20 shots a game for the Golden Eagles this season; there seems to even be some 30 shot games potentially on the horizon for him. If that’s not crazy enough, there likely are a few universes where Howard cracks the 60-point game club this season (he reached 53 once last year, for reference).

He’s the type of guy who has the occasional box-score statistics that make you do a double-take. Watching him play is very similar. The way Howard controls every aspect of Marquette’s offense is a joy to stand witness to. Treat yourself to as many games of his as possible – and who knows – maybe you’ll catch the potential 60-point showing.
