Saint Mary’s is Coming in Hot

Saint Mary’s is riding high into this season. Last year, they were on the back-end of the NCAA Tournament bubble despite being good enough for an at-large bid. That did not matter. They did not sit back and rely on the help of the NCAA Tournament selection committee. They took out Gonzaga on their own in the West Coast Conference Championship to punch their ticket.

What followed their victory over Gonzaga was a first-round loss at the hands of 6 seed, Villanova, despite the fact they were a trendy upset favorite on paper. Nonetheless, this Saint Mary’s team has a lot to look up to this year.

They are projected to finish 2nd in the West Coast Conference behind only Gonzaga, and some analysts are actually considering them as the better team. They are also ranked 20th in the country according to the preseason AP rankings.

Saint Mary’s possesses a roster full of guys that are hungry for great things. Against Wisconsin, they will be out to prove that the ranking they have been given is meant to be there. They look to start out strong and send a message to the rest of the NCAA basketball world.
