4. Good competition at Battle 4 Atlantis

I guess the only downfall for Seton Hall and Oregon is bracket placement. One of the teams is going to face a top-15 team in Gonzaga. The other will get Southern Miss. So I guess if the Golden Eagles win, should the Ducks and Pirates want to lose? I’m joking obviously. But the upper half has Michigan who is still a top-30 team. A talented, but unproven yet Iowa State team. There’s North Carolina with Cole Anthony and Alabama who has been underperforming, but still might show up in SEC play.

We’re not going to assume anything because then I’ll jinx a certain team and have the entire fan base after me. But the ideal option for Oregon and Seton Hall is to play Gonzaga. Granted if it is in the losers bracket, then the Bulldogs will have a million different question marks surrounding them. Gonzaga is who the Ducks and Pirates want on their resume. And obviously, the ultimate goal is to win the entire thing because there are great teams to be had everywhere. Including who they have right in front of them.

Whether or not Oregon sees Michigan in Atlantis, they will play them on December 14 in Ann Arbor. Then it’s three mid-majors and the Pac-12 schedule. Seton Hall is in the same boat as Iowa State. If the favorites all win, Seton Hall will see the Cyclones on Day three. But if they don’t, the Pirates travel to Ames as soon as they get back. Then it’s two Big Ten teams including Maryland at home. The other one is at Rutgers. Beware of the PAC. Seton Hall has just one more mid-major “scheduled” and then it’s onto the Big East.

It’s nice that both teams are guaranteed one quadrant one game at Atlantis. All teams should eventually see one, but the Ducks and Pirates get to play a big-time game right away. This will have another elite eight feel to it. Both teams are built to make runs in the NCAA Tournament. No other for sure game in Atlantis will have this kind of intensity. But winning this Tournament has more appeal because of the teams that the Pirates and Ducks can face to tack onto their resume.
