Big 12-Big South

Big 12: West Virginia (6-0)

WVU lost quite a bit from a year ago, although they still returned 59.0% of minutes played and 51.3% of the scoring. But the Mountaineers struggled at the end of the season. While they have not beaten anyone notably, West Virginia does have a victory over arch-rival Pitt as well as a win over Wichita State in the championship game of the Cancun Classic.

Big East: DePaul (8-0)

DePaul is 8-0 for the first time since reeling off 16 wins in a row during the 1986-87 campaign and for the 11th time in program history. DePaul led wire-to-wire in its latest victory over Minnesota on Nov. 29 to give the Blue Demons three wins over a power-7 school with Iowa and Boston College being the others. They are 3-0 on the road as well.

Big Sky: Eastern Washington (4-2)

EWU has two victories as the underdog, including one on the road versus Seattle. The Eagles also narrowly fell to Boston College 72-68.

Big South: Winthrop (4-4)

The Eagles, whose returnees accounted for just 44.6% of minutes played and 40.7% of scoring from a year ago, upset then 18th-ranked Saint Mary’s. Winthrop also defeated Coastal Carolina, as an underdog, and played Fresno State, Duke, and East Tennessee State closer than expected.  They are 2-1 on the road.
