The highest-ranked freshman on our list, Cole Anthony has been everything North Carolina was hoping he would be and more.

Anthony leads the Heels in points (20.7 per game), assists (4.0), and steals (2.0) while also grabbing 7.3 rebounds per game. He announced his presence in college basketball in a big way, dropping 34 points while adding 11 rebounds and five assists in a season-opening win over Notre Dame.

The 6-3 guard has followed that with three more 20-point performances since, and that doesn’t even mention his 19-point, five-rebound outing against Oregon that included this highlight-reel block.

Between the highlight plays and insane all-around output, Anthony has emerged as a virtual lock to be a top-five pick in the upcoming NBA Draft and is the clear-cut star on North Carolina. They’re only going to go as far as he goes and, right now, he’s holding up his end of the bargain.

Wednesday’s showdown against another top 10 team in Ohio State will be another opportunity for him to solidify his status as a National Player of the Year frontrunner.
