NCAA Basketball: Stephen F. Austin, Jordan Burns top mid-major performers

Best Performance, Individual – Jordan Burns, Colgate
There were not many individual performances that stood out over Feast Week when it came to mid-majors. Most of the excitement was due to pretty balanced team performances. But, Colgate’s Jordan Burns came through with a cool 40-piece.
The junior put on the show at the Legends Classic (in a subregional game), dropping 40 points to lead the Raiders to a 99-81 win over the Green Bay Phoenix in Green Bay.
Burns shot an efficient 14-23 from the field, including a blazing 8-14 from behind the arc, and nailed all four of his free throws. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.
And for good measure, he added 25 points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one block in a 72-62 Colgate win over Siena.
With Lehigh and Bucknell’s cadre of stars finally graduating, Colgate’s Rapolas Ivanauskas broke a decade-long stronghold that the Hawks and Bison had on the Patriot League Player of the Year award last season. Although the reigning Player of the Year is still his teammates, Burns looks to be the favorite to take home the award this season.
