4. One major question mark has been answered for Louisville

One of the biggest questions for Louisville on the floor entering this season was the point guard position and who will be the facilitator of the offense. Last season that role went to senior Christen Cunningham who averaged 4.7 assists over his four-year career and 4.8 last season, but with him gone and nobody returning averaging more than 1.9, the question remained, who would step into that role? And if there was a glaring weakness on the team before the season, that would be it.

That question was answered emphatically by junior Darius Perry and Kimble who have accounted for 55% of the team’s 15 assists per game. While Kimble didn’t have a reputation of a distributor at St. Joseph’s, averaging just three per game during his time there, but the 3.4 he has notched in nine games at Louisville is the second-highest number of his career. After averaging just 1.5 assists over his first two seasons, Perry leads the Cardinals with 5.2 and as a team, they have amassed 140 assists on 251 made baskets so far this season.

Compared to last season when they assisted on 53% of their baskets, I’d say offensive facilitation has gone from a question mark to an improvement.
