10. Tulsa Golden Hurricanes

Tulsa is off to a decent start to the season, sitting at 8-2 they’ve done well through their first ten games. Their biggest win so far comes at Vanderbilt, Tulsa hasn’t really been tested yet but face a tough stretch to close out the non-conference schedule as well as a difficult start to conference play.

Tulsa is one of the best defensive teams in the country in terms of points per game, the 61 points are good enough for 35th in the nation. Brandon Rachel leads the team averaging 15 points per game.

Tulsa will face another SEC opponent in Arkansas before a game with Colorado State and wrapping up non-conference play at Kansas State. The Hurricanes open their conference schedule with a brutal three-game stretch of Temple, Cincinnati, and Houston. Plenty of opportunities for the Hurricanes to pick up good wins and prove they deserve a better ranking.

9. South Florida Bulls

Alexis Yetna being ruled out for the season just days before the first game has taken the winds out of the sails for a Bulls team that had tournament aspirations. South Florida has been off to a really slow start and dropped some games that have been real head-scratchers.

A nearly 20 point defeat to a 3-8 IUPUI team and defeats to struggling Nebraska, Boston College and New Mexico see the Bulls in a tough spot. South Florida’s biggest problem has been their offensive production and that’s something Yetna would have helped with. South Florida is 326th in points per game and has just two double-digit scorers in Collings and Rideau. Their struggles will no doubt continue if they can’t find a way to put up points.
