Surprise: Auburn Tigers 11-0

Coming off a trip to the Final Four and losing their top three scorers, most people thought Auburn would take a step back, but Bruce Pearl has his Tigers chugging again, one of the three remaining undefeated teams in the country at 11-0 and ranked 8th in the nation. Samir Doughty has taken the leadership role for the Tigers averaging 16.9 points per game while shooting 38% from three-point land, but freshman forward Isaac Okoro has been a solid contributor for Auburn averaging over 12 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and shooting over 47% from the field. The Tigers may have lost some important players, but Pearl still has them as one of the top teams in the country.

Disappointment: Florida Gators 7-4

Thus far the most disappointing team in the conference has to be Mike White’s Florida Gators who had Final Four hype entering the season with the addition of freshman Scottie Lewis and Virginia Tech transfer Kerry Blackshear, Jr. The Gators are 7-4 but it hasn’t exactly been a smooth transition getting Blackshear, Jr. integrated and Lewis hasn’t had the most glorified start averaging eight points and four rebounds.

But just when you think they might have finally turned the corner, winning four in a row including a win over Xavier they lose two of their next three to Butler and Utah State. Florida isn’t having a bad season, but given where expectations were before the season, this isn’t the start White had envisioned for his team.
