NCAA Basketball: Best conference games to watch of 2019-20 season
Big East
I have a feeling that there will not be very much clarity as to who will command the Big East until we get closer to the end of the season. It really does seem as if anybody can beat anybody. This is because there seems to be a slight issue with consistency for these teams earlier in the season. About six of these squads seem pretty close to evenly matched at the top. This conference may have one of the most exciting finishes in NCAA basketball.
5) Seton Hall vs. Depaul (1/29)
Not much is known about Depaul despite the fact they only have a single loss heading into conference play. The games with Seton Hall will let us know how they stand against good teams in the Big East.
4) Xavier vs. Villanova (2/22)
This matchup later in the season may help decide who the best in the conference is. I think Xavier wins this game at home
3) Georgetown vs. Butler (1/28, 2/15)
Butler is better than they were a season ago. Mac McClung has kept Georgetown as an entity worth fearing although things seemed as if they would go downhill for them. A strong performance from McClung could lead to an upset of Butler.
2) Marquette vs. Butler (1/24, 2/9)
Markus Howard of Marquette will be the best player on the floor. Senior guard, Kamar Baldwin of Butler, is very athletic and this Howard/Baldwin matchup will be exciting on both offense and defense. I expect to see the home team win each of these games.
1) Villanova vs. Butler (1/21, 2/5)
If these two are at the top of the Big East, then it will certainly be a thrilling race. Villanova took down Kansas in Philly. I think they will also beat Butler at home. This is another situation where I think whoever hosts will win. Butler will take the second game, forcing the two squads to split until they potentially meet again in the Big East Tournament.
