21. John Crosby – Delaware State

2019-20 stats: 22.0 ppg 5.4 rpg 3.1 apg

After three years averaging a few points a game off the bench for Dayton, Crosby elected to transfer to the MEAC at Delaware State and sit out a year. He clearly took that time off to work on his game, now as one of the best scorers in the country. He’s scored in all but one game and put up three straight 30+ point games in a row in December. The Hornets are awful at just 1-13 but Crosby has been the one keeping them in the games. Now entering conference play, let’s see if he can keep it up and be a POY contender.

20. TeShaun Hightower – Tulane

2019-20 stats: 17.0 ppg 5.2 rpg 2.5 apg

The Green Wave were picked last in the preseason, much to the dismay of head coach Ron Hunter. That’s likely not going to be the case, thanks to a trio of impact transfers. Christion Thompson and KJ Lawson have done well with Tulane but the MVP so far has been Hightower, who leads the team in scoring and is coming off a career-high 33 points against Towson. Expect him to be the AAC leader in minutes played, as Tulane struggles mightily without him.

19. Chris Vogt – Cincinnati

2019-20 stats: 12.9 ppg 6.6 rpg 0.8 apg

Following former Northern Kentucky head coach John Brannen over to Cincy, the 7’1 center was viewed as a rotation piece and frontcourt depth. Instead, he’s been a big impact player, scoring in double figures in all but one game and is coming off a team-high 19 points in a big win over UConn. With reigning AAC Player of the Year Jarron Cumberland not having a great senior season, Vogt’s performances so far have kept the Bearcats in NCAA Tournament contention.
