5. Will Kansas win the regular-season title?

Mauro

Yes. It’s Kansas, it’s a regular-season title, and aside from last year, they have had no trouble winning the league for the past 15 years and this should be no different. Marcus Garrett and Devon Dotson are no stranger to Big 12 play and will lead the Jayhawks back to the top. Udoka Azubuike is back for his senior year, and seasoned veteran Mitch Lightfoot is back to finish his career. I’m pretty sure Perry Ellis is still lurking around the bench somewhere, too.

Grad transfer Isaiah Moss and freshman Christian Braun have provided some nice depth off the bench. Ochai Agbaji is shooting 40 percent from deep to give KU their go-to deep shooter. You know, not that they needed another one. Look for the Jayhawks to reclaim their rightful place at the top of the Big 12.

So far, I’m sticking with my preseason pick of Baylor. Baylor just has more scoring options. Kansas relies on Devon Dotson to do so much for them, I think they are going to have nights where he isn’t playing his best, and they will struggle. Of course, Udoka Azubuike is nearly unstoppable down low, but he relies on others to get him the ball. Tristan Clark’s health remains the X-Factor for me, however. The Baylor forward was a preseason all Big-XII player, but he just isn’t healthy. If he isn’t able to return to form a bit more, it is a big blow to Baylor’s chances.

Not only do I think Kansas can win the Big-12, but they have a chance to win a college basketball championship. I’m not saying they won’t take some losses in conference play, because I’m expecting everyone to at this point, but I think they’ll start their streak over again this year.
