3. The 3-point floodgates have opened

Duke has improved to a 36.7% 3-point shooting for the season but they are absolutely torching the nets from deep in ACC play. Duke is currently shooting an elite 40.8% from the 3-point line in ACC play.

The Blue Devils shot 50% from the 3-point line in their nine-point win over Georgia Tech and that hot shooting carried over into Saturday night’s matchup with Wake Forest. Duke only took 12 attempts from 3-point range against the Yellow Jackets but they got uncharacteristically aggressive from deep.

Duke would go on to finish the game 11-23 from 3-point range (47.8%). Duke has shot 40% or better from 3-point range in every game since their woeful 12.5% 3-point effort in a blowout win over Brown.

Duke’s offense runs through big man Vernon Carey, who has been dominant this year but only had 8 points on Saturday. Carey did match his career-high with three assists and his confidence as a passer will continue to build as long as Duke’s shooters are on like they were Saturday.

Next. Biggest takeaways of the week. dark

Duke’s 11 made 3-pointers were significant because of who they came from. Tre Jones, who led the game with 23 points and hit 3-of-4 from the 3-point line is a career 29.6% 3-point shooter but is a different player this year. His improvement to a 36.7% 3-point shooter, as well as the contributions from deep from Joey Baker and Jack White, will make Duke the toughest team in the nation to take down when they are 100% healthy.
