Momentum

Although it remains a vital component within the formula for winning in all scenarios, limiting their own sloppy play bears even greater severity for Miami ahead this matchup, as Florida State for now owns the highest steals to turnover ration in the ACC at 0.73. On the contrary, Miami lacks this discipline exemplified by their opponents, earning a mediocre 0.52 mark.

Perhaps the most important number though tallies not any advanced statistic, but rather the current win streak that Florida State continues to ride. With eight straight victories behind them, including an massive road win over Louisville earlier this month, momentum obviously appears allied with Florida State as they come into this game.

On the other hand, NC State absolutely pancaked Miami with an 80-63 score just a few days ago. After dropping three out of their last four games, the Canes appear to be growing dangerously accustomed to losing, which obviously raises a red flag.

With Florida State instead having already established a familiarity with winning games, an early lead for the Seminoles could offer them a physiological advantage over Miami, allowing them to build momentum and suck the air out of their opponents to seemingly end the game far earlier than the clock intends too.
