Seton Hall Pirates – 14-4 (6-0)

Current NET ranking: 12

It was a little over a month ago when the top two players for Seton Hall went down with serious injuries. Myles Powell (concussion) and Sandro Mamukelashvili (wrist) were out indefinitely and back-to-back losses to both Iowa State and Rutgers created doubt as to whether or not this team could remain in the tourney picture.

Fast forward 40 days later and getting Powell back sooner than expected, Seton Hall has yet to lose a game. Riding an 11-game win streak for the first time since 2011, Kevin Willard’s squad has not only put themselves safely into the at-large field of 68, the Pirates are now in a position to get one of the coveted protected seeds.

This past week was the toughest test to date for the Pirates, facing two road games in the Big East. One of them was against top-5 Butler, a team with an even better resume currently than the Pirates. But led by 29 points from Powell, Seton Hall got the massive win to remain unbeaten in the conference. And even though St. John’s isn’t the field currently, their comeback effort on the road was just as impressive on Saturday.

With a NET ranking soon to crack the top-10 and plenty of more opportunities at Quad-1 wins ahead (5 games left against current ranked teams including Villanova), there’s no question that Seton Hall will be dancing come March. Now, is a No. 2 seed out of the question for this dangerous Pirates team?
