4. Georgetown (12-7, 2-4) at Xavier (12-6, 1-4) – Wednesday, Jan 22

NET rankings: Georgetown (52), Xavier (68)

It’s too early for a bubble elimination game but neither the Hoyas or the Musketeers can really afford to lose this game. The loser would already have five Big East losses, with matchups against Villanova and Butler still to come for both of them. The Musketeers, in particular, already have a pair of double-digit losses at home in league play.

Georgetown’s lack of depth is starting to catch up to them, and with a brutal stretch of games coming up, a loss to Xavier would be crippling. The Big East overall is strong but not enough to carry a bubble team that isn’t at least .500 in league play. This will be one of the more consequential results of the week.

3. Baylor (15-1, 5-0) at Florida (12-5, 4-1)

NET rankings: Baylor (1), Florida (39)

Arguably the most impressive Bracketology resume overall, Baylor has an obvious case for a No. 1 seed in the South Region. They can add another strong win on the road at Florida, a preseason Final Four contender who has had their fair share of ups and downs. But the Gators have shown positive signs since the start of SEC play, including a win over Auburn.

Squared right on the bubble, Florida has an incredible opportunity to beat a top-5 team and get another Quad-1 victory, something the conference overall lacks. If the Gators can’t get this win, they’ll likely be looking at best an eight seed in the NCAA Tournament. Of all the games in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, this one has the ability to singlehandedly change the fortune of a team and their resume.
