Big East Basketball Power Rankings: Seton Hall, Villanova leap ahead
After starting conference play at just 1-2, Creighton has won three of its last four games including a flawless two-game stretch during this past week. With their efforts as of late, the Bluejays have risen to hold the eighth-best adjusted offensive efficiency rating in the entire country. They also rank best in the conference in that rating in Big East play alone as defenses have had a really hard time slowing down their perimeter-centric offense.
Ty-Shon Alexander, Marcus Zegarowski, and Mitchell Ballock are all elite-level 3-point shooters and carry the load offensively for this squad. In addition to the Bluejays shooting 37.1% from three throughout this season, though, it is important to mention that they are strong inside the arc (52.2% on 2-point attempts) as well. Creighton can score effectively at all three levels and also limits turnovers. The Bluejays rank 32nd nationally in turnover rate at just 16.5%.
Looking ahead on Creighton’s schedule, the team is entering a tough stretch as it will play three of its next five games on the road. This includes a pair of away games against Villanova and Seton Hall that will be very difficult to win. If Creighton is able to go 3-2 over the next five games, it will be in great shape moving forward. Either way, though, the Bluejays belong among the Top 5 teams in the Big East.
