People have doubted San Diego State at just about every single turn this season. Yet, the Aztecs have taken that in stride and have answered the call on every single occasion. That was once again the case during this past week as the team secured back-to-back solid MWC wins to move to 20-0 on the season. SDSU’s strength of schedule is better than a lot of people realize but it’s also important to discuss just how hard it is to win 20 straight games to begin a season. The Aztecs just continue to impress and their wins over BYU, Creighton, and Iowa are aging extremely well.

While San Diego State has remained steady as one of the top teams in the country, though, Seton Hall has quietly been making substantial strides up the seed list. The Pirates are currently in the midst of a nine-game winning streak that includes a 7-0 start in Big East play. It is impossible to ignore how well this team is performing as Quincy McKnight and Romaro Gill have made substantial leaps offensively to join Myles Powell as leaders of the squad. We might see Seton Hall leap onto the No. 1 seed line in the near future if it keeps playing at this level.

Lastly, LSU is sneakily emerging as a contender to win the SEC. While conference record is irrelevant for selection/seeding, the Tigers’ current seven-game winning streak (6-0 SEC) shows that they are hitting their stride at the right time. Definitely a squad to monitor and they are really fun to watch offensively as well.
