NCAA Basketball: Michigan, Ohio State highlight Monday Morning Mailbag

I expect Tyrese Maxey, Nick Richards, and Ashton Hagans to go. There’s always the possibility that one or two more players could go, but those are the only three that are in position to be drafted around the first round.
The clutch shots help, but Ayo Dosunmu’s overall play during Illinois’ six-game win streak is why his stock is rising. He has always had NBA size and athleticism and is finally turning that into elite production, averaging 19.2 points and 5.4 assists over the last five games. In a year with such a weak draft class, he’s putting himself in position to be a late first-round pick.
Not lottery picks, that’s for sure – that’s just TV analysts trying to create more excitement around their broadcast. As mention, Dosunmu is in the conversation to be a first-round pick, but I don’t think Cockburn is. I’d actually be surprised if he got drafted. It might be better if he were to return for his sophomore season.
I love Stanley as a draft sleeper. His athleticism is other-worldly and will allow him to make an impact in the most wide-open NBA game. Stanley is also a legitimate perimeter defender.
Saddiq Bey definitely has some Eric Paschall potential but I’m not sure about Tinkle. His size and all-around game are excellent for the college game yet his lack of athleticism will limit his effectiveness in the NBA. That said, I could see him catching on with a team that really values high basketball IQs like the Spurs or Heat.
And I don’t know enough about Pokusevski yet but I’ll take your word for it.
San Diego State’s trip to The Pit will be fun as New Mexico will really test their undefeated record, but I’m going to go a little out of the box and say Arizona-Washington on Thursday. The Huskies are home and desperately need a win for their NCAA Tournament hopes, while Arizona has been downright awful on the road this season and could become a bubble team themselves with a loss there. A lot on the line.
