NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Illinois rises, Dayton keeps impressing
Duke only played one game during this past week and it absolutely eviscerated Miami-FL by 30 points. That contest was never particularly close as the Blue Devils jumped on the Hurricanes early and never looked back. It was definitely good to see the team return to their normal levels of dominance after back-to-back losses during the prior week as Duke firmly belongs in the Top 10. There should no doubt about that.
When the Blue Devils are at the top of their game, there are very few teams in the country that can compete with them.
Duke currently sits at No. 2 on KenPom behind the fifth-best ratings in both adjusted offense and defense as its balance reigns supreme. The Blue Devils have very few weaknesses on paper and they feature a pair of true stars with Vernon Carey Jr. and Tre Jones.
Improving at the free-throw line is perhaps the most pressing issue as the season continues as their 67.2% shooting could hurt them in close games. This is especially true considering three of Duke’s next four games will all away from home.
I still have my concerns about the Blue Devils considering their horrid performances against SFA and Clemson, but they are easily one of the most talented teams in the country. Head coach Mike Krzyzewski has a balanced roster capable of winning in a variety of ways. If the Blue Devils can develop more consistency, they will easily be one of the favorites for the national championship.
