NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Illinois rises, Dayton keeps impressing
Louisville is quietly on a six-game winning streak that includes three true road victories. During this past week, the Cardinals simply handled their business in home wins over Georgia Tech and Clemson. Both victories were definitely expected but winning should never be taken for granted this season – too many top-tier teams have dropped questionable games to assume anything.
It is important to mention, though, that the Cardinals were able to secure these victories despite the fact that star player Jordan Nwora scored just 10 points in each game. Samuell Williamson and David Johnson have been excellent off the bench in recent weeks and that continued against the Yellow Jackets and Tigers. Louisville’s depth is seemingly improving with each game and the team’s offense has made strides as a result.
Louisville’s defense, though, will be its calling card throughout this season. The Cardinals might not turn their opponents over very often but they defend the entire court exceptionally well. Louisville is holding its opponents to just 42.6% on 2PA and 29.2% on 3PA. The team also avoids fouling very well as it functions as a careful unit wary of being overaggressive.
Louisville is currently playing at a high level but four of its next six games will all come on the road. Can the Cardinals keep up their hot play away from home? They are 4-1 in true road games this season.
