Iowa is easily one of the hottest teams in the country at the moment. After starting Big Ten play at just 1-3 with a loss to Nebraska, the Hawkeyes have now rattled off five consecutive wins and have moved to the No. 14 spot on KenPom. Iowa is quietly one of the top-seeded teams in the Big Ten right now thanks to this recent run. Head coach Fran McCaffery’s team is flat-out elite offensively will the ability to fill it up against just about any opponent. Luka Garza is a National Player of the Year contender and the underclassmen backcourt pieces around him fit perfectly.

Texas Tech, on the other hand, continues to trend down. The national runner-ups from a season ago, Texas Tech has struggled to build a solid resume and now finds itself in the “Last Four In” of this projected field. The Red Raiders can boast a big-time win over Louisville and relatively strong efficiency metrics but their resume is rather weak. They have suffered seven losses already and only have four wins in Q1+2+3 combined. This team needs to collect some victories, preferably in the top-two quadrants, in order to stick in the field. TTU is a better team than its resume and I stand by that.
