NCAA Basketball: Dayton, Terry Taylor top mid-major performers of the week
By Logan Butts
Best Performance, Individual – Terry Taylor, Austin Peay
Following a pair of big home wins for the Austin Peay Govs, this almost could have been an award given out to co-winners as Jordyn Adams had almost as much to do with this week’s success as Terry Taylor did. But, I wanted to reward Taylor, who has quietly been one of the best juniors in the country this season.
Taylor, who leads the Ohio Valley Conference in both points (23.0) and rebounds (9.8) per game, put up 37 points on 13-18 shooting, including a perfect 6-6 from three and 5-6 from the line, along with 14 rebounds in a 99-74 home win over Tennessee State on Thursday. His co-star, Adams, added 37 points (with 11-20, 5-10, 10-11 lines).
The main event, though, was on Saturday night when the Govs knocked of Belmont 86-78 at home to pull into a tie with Murray State (who also beat Belmont this week, tough week for the Bruins) at 8-0 atop the league standings. In the win, Taylor had just 13 points, but he also pulled down 17 rebounds and had a block and a steal, while Adams scored 24 points and handed out six assists.
The Govs are a major threat to win the OVC.
