6. Michigan State

Here’s the next familiar face on this year’s top 10. While the Spartans have underperformed this year in terms of winning and watchability, they still rank as one of the best in both those categories. For the 5th straight year, they are the best passing team in the nation, with almost 3 quarters of their baskets coming off assists. But while they rank high in offensive rating at 18th in the nation, they have regressed significantly in every other offensive watchability category.

The absence of key contributor Josh Langford certainly has something to do with it, but the team has also gotten very inconsistent play from its stud trio of Cassius Winston, Xavier Tillman and Aaron Henry. They’re also rank inside the bottom 30 in Turnovers per Offensive possession, which I’m sure an all-time great offensive mind like Coach Izzo can’t be thrilled about. The team has been surprisingly stout defensively, leading the nation in Blocks per defensive possession, but even that hasn’t been enough to offset their offensive troubles.

Michigan State has picked their play up recently, and if off to a strong start in Big Ten conference play, going 6-1 in the first seven games, but if this team can’t take care of the ball and become more efficient on offense, Sparty could see their season end disappointingly once again. Nevertheless, the Spartans are still one of the most watchable teams in the nation and definitely worth tuning in every time they play.
