2. Virginia Tech

Yet another surprise team this season, many thought Tech would be a bottom of the barrel team this year after losing their long-time head coach and best 3 players this offseason. But, despite all of this, last year’s #3 most watchable team once again find themselves among the elites in Watchability. Not enough has been said about the job first coach Mike Young has done with his team.

After five very successful years at Virginia Tech, coach Buzz Williams left for a job at Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech turned to a successful but largely unknown head coach Mike Young. Well, to say the least, he’s started his tenure off on the right foot. Despite having one of the worst recruiting classes in his own conference, Young’s team ranks inside the top 60 in every offensive watchability stat except for Pace of Play, including 11th in 3 Point rate and 13th in Assists per field goals made.

They’re also statistically the smartest team in the country, ranking 2nd in foul % and 3rd in turnover %. A team that scores efficiently and also takes care of the ball and plays intelligently on the defensive end is as watchable as it gets, and I certainly recommend tuning in every time the Hokies play.
