13. Nebraska Cornhuskers 7-14 (2-8)

Nebraska has had quite the interesting Big Ten season. Fred Hoiberg is a great coach, but no one expected him to win Coach of the Year right away. There has been quite an array of losses for the Cornhuskers. But Nebraska has two nice wins over Purdue and Iowa.

The Cornhuskers haven’t looked completely incompetent. They’re up to over 72 points per game. But they’re allowing more points than scoring. They’ve lost five straight which started with a five-point loss to the Wildcats. Since then, Nebraska has scored 68 or more points. The loss to Ohio State was just a 12-point defeat, all things considered. The Buckeyes were struggling and still are. But Nebraska did outscore Ohio State in the second half by one point.

Nebraska lost by just eight to Indiana and Cam Mack scored a Big Ten season-high 20 points. It was just a one-point game against Wisconsin at halftime before they were outscored by 13. They lost by just three to a really good Rutgers team. Mack continues to be a nice player for the Cornhuskers. He and three-time transfer Haanif Cheatham are keeping Nebraska competitive. That’s all Hoiberg is asking for this season.

There’s not a whole lot to play for at this point besides gaining experience. It’s a really tough time to have a rebuilding season in the Big Ten. Nebraska still has Northwestern at home in March which they have a great chance at winning. It is really hard to bet on them winning any other game. There are no easy ones in the Big Ten this season.
