10. San Jose State (-)

Last weekend, it looked like San Jose State would actually be able to climb out of this spot in the rankings, but then they went and blew it on Saturday, losing at home to an awful Wyoming squad. They didn’t exactly have the most impressive couple of weeks before that, but they had at least looked better than Air Force before losing to Wyoming.

They were expected to lose to New Mexico following the last set of power rankings, but the fact that they lost by 27 to a depleted Lobo squad managed to make it a particularly disappointing performance. Then they bounced back with a home win over Air Force that should have pushed them up the rankings, but their last week was disastrous.

They got demolished on the road again, losing by 28 to Boise State and then they suffered the worst loss of the Mountain West season. They were the first team in the conference to lose against Wyoming and the fact that they did it at home just makes it worse. Honestly, if Wyoming had one more win or SJSU’s wins didn’t include New Mexico and Nevada, then they’d probably have dropped to last place in this set of rankings.

This looks like it could be the start of a brutal end to the season for SJSU as their only home games for the rest of the season come against UNLV, Boise State, and Fresno State.
