#4. Mississippi State Bulldogs 14-7 (5-3)

After dropping their first three games in SEC play, Mississippi State has rattled off five straight conference wins and are playing as well as anyone in the league.  Ben Howland has the Bulldogs rolling.

Reggie Perry is an absolute monster inside and is having an All-American caliber season.  He anchors a Bulldog squad that is one of the tallest, longest, and most physical groups in the SEC.  They are top-10 in the country in rebounding margin and top-20 in offensive rebounds per game.

The return of Nick Weatherspoon has been a tremendous boost to the back-court.  He is averaging over 12 points per game and nearly five assists.  Tyson Carter and Robert Woodard provide outside shooting threats on the perimeter.

Similar to Arkansas, the Bulldogs are still in search of a signature win for the resume.  Conveniently enough, they have a showdown looming at Kentucky Tuesday night.

#3. Kentucky Wildcats 16-5 (6-2 SEC)

Kentucky is probably the most talented team in the SEC, and for the most part, they have played like it.  In typical fashion for a John Calipari team, the Wildcats got off to an uneven start but continue to play better as the season progresses.

Kentucky has had a couple of slip-ups, to South Carolina and over the weekend at Auburn, but they are battle-tested and have proven they can play with and beat anyone.  The Wildcats hold impressive victories over Michigan State, Louisville, and at Arkansas and Texas Tech.

Nick Richards has been terrific in the post for Kentucky and is in the running for SEC Player of the Year.  Sharpshooter Immanuel Quickley and freshman phenom Tyrese Maxey have been consistently impressive, and point guard Ashton Hagans is the straw that stirs the drink.

As per usual, expect Kentucky to stay very much in the thick of things atop the SEC as they push for a top 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
