NCAA Basketball: 10 most versatile playmakers of 2019-20 season
6. Vernon Carey Jr. | Duke | C | Freshman |
Duke’s freshmen class this season had a lot of expectations to meet and people to impress after following the Freshmen class they had last season. They have played great despite the fact that they have been knocked down at times, and Vernon Carey Jr. has proven to be a fantastic big man.
Carey has lived up to the hype that surrounded him coming in, and it was not long before he showed the NCAA Basketball world how great he is in multiple aspects of the game. Carey is the biggest contributor for the Blue Devils, leading the team in both scoring and rebounding.
He averages 17.8 points per game and also grabs 8.9 boards per contest. The crazy part is that he is yet to be the best he can be. He is very young and gets better every minute he is on the floor. It’ll be exciting to see how great he will become in the NBA. It is safe to say that he is heading there as soon as this season ends.
While he is still around at Duke, let’s appreciate the fact that he is one of the best NCAA Basketball players this season. With Carey and the rest of the young talent, Duke will continue to find much success throughout the rest of the year.
