Like Vernon Carey Jr., Precious Achiuwa is a highly talented Freshman playmaker in the frontcourt that is living up to expectations and even exceeding them. Perhaps the loss of James Wiseman has played a role in this as great performances from Achiuwa are certainly needed in order for the Memphis Tigers to be successful.

As a young guy that is still improving, Achiuwa has looked beyond impressive, averaging a double-double in games this season, and actually doing so eleven times. He averages 15.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. As a scorer he is just as effective from mid-range as he is close to the basket, shooting 52.8% from the field as a whole.

His great court vision, movement, and defensive abilities also lend to him being an extremely versatile athlete. The fire he plays with is also a must-have, as his confidence and poise have allowed Memphis to pick up the victory in some close and extremely important games.

As the Memphis Tigers fight to remain at the top of the American Athletic Conference, as well as to continue to be a relevant name in NCAA Basketball this season, Achiuwa will have to be the main guy to help make those things happen.
