Oklahoma Sooners (15-8, 5-5)

According to our own Bracketology projected field heading into Saturday, Oklahoma was one of the “Last 4 teams in”. Their overall resume is the definition of average, with their best wins coming against Texas and Minnesota, who both are right on the cutline as well. The losses at Iowa State and Kansas State aren’t killers but it certainly doesn’t help. With a NET ranking just under 60, the Sooners need to start landing big wins in Big 12 play.

They couldn’t beat Texas Tech on the road earlier in the week but had a major opportunity on Saturday at home against West Virginia, who received a 2 seed in the West Region in the bracket reveal. Led by Kristian Doolittle‘s 27 points, the Sooners got the 69-59 victory over the Mountaineers to get their season-defining win for their resume.

With so many bubble teams losing this weekend, it’s likely that the Sooners are going to move into the safer territory on the bubble. It also gives them a current advantage over TCU and Texas in the battle for what’s likely going to be the 5th and final ticket to the Big Dance from the Big 12. If Oklahoma can get one more win from either Baylor, Kansas or West Virginia in the regular season, they’ll be sleeping soundly on Selection Sunday.
