Gonzaga was perhaps the biggest winner of the Bracket Reveal. Many bracketologists (myself included) had been predicting that the Bulldogs would be relegated to the fourth No. 1 seed headed out East during the reveal but that did not turn out to be the case. Gonzaga secured its spot on the top line in the West Region, meaning that the committee already has them ahead of San Diego State on their curve. This means that the Bulldogs are in excellent shape to remain out west, which would really boost their odds of making a deep run, in my opinion. Gonzaga is perhaps the best team in the country based on the eye test.

Maryland, on the other hand, seemed a bit underseeded at the Reveal as it was pegged to be a No. 3 seed. With that said, though, I’m not sure that the committee was able to take into account the Terps’ road win over Illinois on the day before the announcement. Additionally, West Virginia falling to Oklahoma dropped them a seed line and I think that opened the door for Maryland to swoop onto the No. 2 seed line. The Terrapins are a very good team that appear to be hitting their stride.
