Who stays from the 2019-20 roster

Duke’s 2019-20 squad is full of a good amount of players who could definitely stay in Durham to play another season for the Blue Devils. There is a good chance that the 2020-21 team will have the most returning players we have seen for Duke in a LONG time.

Here is who I see staying at Duke for another year:

Now this isn’t to say that I think these are the only players Duke retains from this year’s team and that’s also not to say that it’s impossible that one or more of these players leaves for either the draft or transfer portal, this is simply a list of players who I think will benefit from more time at Duke and players who I think will wind up staying.

Wendell Moore is one player on this list that, had you told me at the beginning of the year he would play his sophomore season at Duke, I might’ve been rather surprised. Moore was the 22nd ranked recruit in the Class of 2019, but his 2019-20 season hasn’t gone the way he had hoped at all.

For starters, in the 18 games Moore has played in, he is averaging only 7.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. These numbers aren’t bad by any means, but 7.6 points aren’t going to get you drafted very highly and Moore knows that.

If he has the opportunity to stay at Duke, get another year of experience under his belt and potentially raise his draft stock, I think he will do just that.

As for the rest of them, there isn’t a whole lot to say, unless they transfer away from Duke you should expect to see each of the other six players on this list stay in Durham.
