Vermont Basketball: Catamounts putting things together at the right time
In conference play, the Catamounts have been nearly unbeatable
Once the calendar turned to 2020 and conference play began, the march to yet another title got off to an auspicious start, falling at home to Stony Brook in a back-and-forth affair. Since then though, they have really put it together and are currently on a 10-game winning streak. Aside from two games against Hartford and Maine, none of the victories have been particularly close with all coming by 11 points or more.
In conference play Vermont has upped their offensive game slightly, averaging 73.6 points per game compared to their overall number of 70.7 on the year. Davis is one player that has taken advantage of conference foes, netting 12 per contest, up from his 9.9 average this season. But it is not just the offense that has Vermont on such a roll, the stingy defense they displayed during their non-conference schedule, allowing over 70 points just twice (both losses) has continued during conference play where they have given up just 58.9 points per game.
With just five games remaining before the conference tournament, Vermont has been putting it all together at the right time to be primed and ready to go hunting for their third tournament title in the last four seasons.
