Don’t Lose Focus

If there was ever a time for San Diego State to have their first stumble of the season, this would probably be it. Everything just lines up perfectly for this game to be a letdown game for them. They are traveling to an arena where they’ve lost their last three games, they are playing against a Boise State team that has won six of their last seven games, and they just celebrated a Mountain West Regular season title. This seems like a situation where a lot of teams might wrongly overlook an opponent and fall victim to an upset on the road.

SDSU obviously hasn’t looked past an opponent yet this year, but they’ve never had to show up after a real celebration before. Cutting down the nets on Wednesday night could make the players feel like they’ve already accomplished their mission in the season. It could lead them to take it easy until somebody finally does take away their 0.

Luckily for SDSU, their lineup is loaded with upperclassmen who have the experience and maturity to hopefully prevent this team from needlessly stumbling. This isn’t the time for the Aztecs to take their eyes off of the real prize they’re after this season. If they stay focused then there’s no reason to believe that there is actually a team in the Mountain West who can beat them. They just need to make sure they stay focused the rest of the way.
